What can I issue a refund for?

You can issue a refund according to your shop policies. Some common reasons include:

  • Agreeing with the buyer to issue a refund

  • Overcharging the buyer for shipping

  • The buyer forgetting to apply a shop coupon

How do I pay for a refund?

Refunds are deducted from your Stripe Payment account. If there aren't enough funds in your account to cover the refund, your credit card on file will be charged for the remaining balance.

Will Finnalby refund my seller fees?

Yes, if you refund a buyer through your Shop Manager, your Finnalby transaction and processing fees for that transaction will be automatically refunded to your Payment account via Stripe.

When can I issue a refund?

If you use Finnalby Payments, you can issue a refund after the payment has been processed, but it must be within 30 days of the transaction. After 30 days, you won't be able to issue a refund through Finnalby.

If your shop policy allows refunds after 30 days, you can still issue a refund using an external payment method, like PayPal. However, if you do this, Finnalby won't be able to refund your seller fees.

When can't I issue a refund?

If the "Issue a Refund" button is not available, the order is non-refundable. This may happen if more than 30 days have passed since the purchase date or if the buyer has filed a chargeback. A chargeback occurs when a buyer reports a transaction as incorrect or unwanted to their financial institution, such as a bank, credit card company, or PayPal. The buyer will need to resolve the issue directly with their financial institution.
